In order to respond positively and make corresponding adjustments and improvements, enhance the level of talent cultivation in tourism management, innovate the talent cultivation mode, and improve the capacity of professional construction, the tourism management major of the School of Business Administration (SBA) launched the data and digital intelligence reform programme of talent cultivation, and held an expert demonstration meeting of the reform programme of talent cultivation of tourism management on 22th May, 2024 in Wenquan Building.
At 9:00 A.M., the expert validation meeting of tourism management talent cultivation reform scheme was held, presided over by Prof. Hu Chuan, Vice Dean of SBA, with the participation of Prof. Wu Haitao, Dean of SBA, Comrade Yu Xiaopeng, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Comrade Zhu Yanping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee. The meeting invited Professor Ma Yong, Professor Hu Jing, Professor Xue Bingwang from the Ministry of Education, Professor Yang Fan from Wuhan Business School and Wei Kaijun, Investment Director of Hubei Recreation Group as the expert team.
Professor Ma Yong presided over the expert argumentation session, firstly, the teacher representative of the Department of Tourism Management of SBA, the deputy head of the department, Mr Zhou Lingxu, reported the reform programme to the leaders and experts attending the meeting, and asked the expert group to start the review. Professor Ma Yong suggested to set up the organisation of talent cultivation reform of tourism management. Prof. Verhoeven Yang also proposed to set up more special courses in line with the current hot areas of the industry for the purpose of curriculum construction. Professor Hu Jing suggested combining the positioning and actuality of our finance and economics school to highlight the professional characteristics.
At the end of the meeting, Mr Yu Xiaopeng, the secretary of SBA, gave a speech on the seminar. The Department of Tourism Management will continue to improve the talent training reform programme according to the suggestions of the experts and promote the high-quality development of the tourism industry.
